		喜言于色水彩素描创作手稿 (2004) After a Successful Battle, watercolor painting 1938年8月，中国抗日战争时期的淞汇战场上，我军以弱胜强，歼灭了敌军，取得了重大的胜利。画面中是中国空军总司令周至柔接受各国记者的采访。这是一幅大画的创作手稿，原作为101x102cm，现藏于广东省历史博物馆。读李金明的画作，可以丰富我们的历史视觉，通过这些形象的图画，使我们更了解国家的丰功伟绩。 In August 1938, in the Battle of Songhui, the Chinese air force defeated a superior Japanese force. In the picture, Zhou Zhi Rou, the commander of the Chinese force describes the battle to foreign newsmen from foreign media. This is a draft for a larger painting, which is now in the Guangdong Museum of History. With this work, Li has extended his history of China, in painting, back before the reign of Mao.		$2,600

		Potted Flowers: original watercolor painting by Zhao Qian Xu (2006) This watercolor of potted flowers by Zhao Qian Xu is slightly different from the other one that we have offered in our gallery. For one thing, it is larger than the other. Another difference is that the flowers are more orange-yellow and less white than those in the other painting. A final difference of note is that this painting is done in a more realistic style, not the more abstract style of the smaller one. The colors are warm and inviting, not only in the flowers, themselves, but also in the golden background. It is a beautifully done watercolor, which comes nicely framed and matted, in a frame that gives it a lot of room and had a golden finish to help really highlight this work and give it a rich look. 	136.	Folk Art Quad Panel 2: hand embroidered folk scenes This four panel folk art piece of Xiangxiu style Chinese hand-embroidery pictures shows another slice of life, in China. The first scene is mothers sitting around talking and having tea outdoors at a countryside house, an after dinner tradition. The next scene is a Chinese wedding wherein the bride (near the center of the picture) wears a red bandanna covering her face before she is married: it comes off at the end, much like the Western tradition of lifting the bride's veil. In the bottom left panel are shown children flying kites of various shapes. The final panel shows a family celebration for Chinese New Year with all of the children and grandchildren, even the cow and some other animals, at an outdoor celebration. It is traditional for all of the family to go home at Chinese New Year, much like for the Thanksgiving celebration in the U.S. (shipped minus the glass).
