 Chen Min Jun Bio Born in Yixing, in 1985, Chen Min Jun grew up in the center of teapot art culture. After attending the Yixing art school, we went to work for the Second Yixing Teapot Factory where he did research in teapot art and sharpened his teapot-making skills. He is certified at the assistant level zisha clay artist, and he now has his own studio. His specialty is making detailed small frogs to decorate his teapots, which he has been perfecting by observing the way frogs look and act, in nature. His works have been included in several books about teapot art: Teapot Soul and Zisha Art. |

Tree Frog with four cups: original design teapot art by Chen Mim Jun, Yixing, China Chen Min Jun specializes in frogs: not just putting them into teapot art but making these tiny sculptural elements of art in nice detail. Like any element of Yixing zisha teapot art, different colors are not made with glazes or paint but with different colors of clay. Thus, all of the spots and other colored areas of the frog and the other parts of these teapots are made, in that manner, and, of course, his little eyes are movable in their sockets. Other details of this gong chun style teapot include the crackled bark on the tree and the leaves, which are gingko biloba. The four adorable cups and saucers (see cups in the photo on the hyperlink page) that come with this teapot make it especially nice. We recently added Chen to our gallery, and this was one of the first teapots of his that we admired, and we think that you will, too. |

Frog on Rock: original teapot art by Chen Min Jun, Yixing, China Rock and stone themes are part of teapot art, but we especially liked this one, both because of its multi-colored clay rings, making the stone more decorative, and because of the intricately-detailed frog, on top, which is a trademark detail of Chen Min Jun's teapot art. |

Yixing, China This teapot follows in the tradition of simple, nicely-shaped body, like teapot artists have been making since the twentieth century. We liked its red color and leaves for the top and the spout. The other attractive design feature is the two flowers and overlaid leaves on the side of the body. Of course, it is also topped with a nicely-detailed frog on the lid, which is a trademark of Chen Min Jun. It also comes in yellow. |

Tree Stump with Frog by Chen Min Jun, Yixing, China The tree stump theme is a common theme for teapots, and we even have tree stump theme teapots of several variations by several artists. The difference between this and the others is that it comes in a fairly large size of 800 cc's, and it also has one of Chen Min Jun's detailed frogs on top, which is his trade mark and specialty. |

Stone Decorated zisha teapot art by Chen Min Jun, Yixing, China There are many classic shapes and themes that we want to include in the Leona Craig Art Gallery, but it is always difficult to find just the right one. Decoration of the top edge of teapots with stylized "stone" is one of the themes that we had been looking for, and this sweet little teapot by Chen Min Jun is a an adorable example. It also has carvings on the sides and the detailed frog sculpture, which Chen is famous for, on the top. |
